I saw this listing and checked in not realizing it was so old. The building says Kamodos, Hunan and Ginza at one point or another. Regardless of what they are calling themselves, the sushi is good. I always get the crunchy roll and the philiadelphia roll. If you order the lunch box you can get those and Miso soup (or salad) for about $8. I also recommend the Acadiana roll, it has a bit of a kick, and the 225 roll but I usually want more than just one and it is $13.

Great food. Love the summer special "LSU Roll". Its a great place for dining and not that expensive compared to other great sushi places. It was really quiet when I came, but maybe that was because of a sunday. I actually always go to Ichibans for sushi, but this place is just as good and cheaper.

Good food, friendly service. Don't expect them to understand if you order in Japanese, tho. Just something I do whenever I'm greeted by 'Irrashaimase!' upon entering. Food: good-if you takeout FYI:sushi/ sashimi atop hot/warm food will be mush by the time you get to it. So order it seperate or enjoy the texture. Selection is typical for US sushibar, perhaps better due to local, fresh availability. Always curious about 'fresh' marine life in midwest.. The menu, also familliar to most US sushi patrons, isn't much to tell; all one expects & typical house specials. Balanced enough to suit all. -Hibachi: fun, food & show. Also way to make friends. Dessert: Tempura ice-cream! Nice flavours ex. greentea, aizuki(sweet red-bean paste) etc. Bar:looks good, never go so Ill just add they serve Gekkeikan sake (thier factory at Fushimimomoyama shows history, dedication used for centuries) its good IMO. Should mention the japanese-staff thing has worked well w/one of the Chefs, lots of food on the house which was great! Our group thought it was awesome. -Note the free sushi has nothing to do w/ my opinion or review, Yelp didnt exist, just thought it a good anedote about the service. Still paid for the meal. Id try it, not much to loose, though if you're broke- save up & go for arbys or wherever, std. Sushi pricing. Fair, but can add up.

Kamado is everything I expect at a sushi bar. Great ambiance, great food and great service. The only thing I didn't like is my California rolls had no cucumber but that's my bad. I came in at 4:30 on Sunday so it was empty but regardless the service was spot on. The wasabi was potent which I like and they even asked me if I wanted my Cali roll with rice on the inside or outside and I have never been asked that before and I really appreciated that they would ask my preference first. This is the only sushi place I've been to in baton rouge and it will remain that way as I'll be back because why wander when you've already found what you're looking for.

I used to be a regular customer. However, service and quality has varied over the years. I now go to Ichiban on Essen much more frequently. I complained at Kamado's to the manager in March of 2008 about the reduction in the size of the portions . . . perhaps 1/3 less than Ichiban. I got a defensive response and no adjustment to the serving or the bill. I haven;t been back to Kamado's in the 8 months since then.

Kamado's is great for classic rolls and dishes at reasonable prices. The decor is very Japanese and they offer traditional-style seating in private rooms if your party is so interested. I have never had an issue with the waitstaff or the portions and I've been eating at Kamado's since childhood.

Ooo, no, Mandy C. The waitstaff has been lousy on more than one occasion. They forget parts of your sushi order, don't visit often enough to keep a thirsty man happy, and understand English poorly enough that every order must be spoken three times. It's like a magic spell, perhaps, but I prefer my magic on my own terms, not as a prerequisite for raw fish. On the other hand, the sushi was pretty durn good.

I was on the road back home from a long trip and my date-(to bad you cant review dates because she would have been a doozy to review...and too bad on the date review you couldnt give like negative stars)-we (she) decided we needed to eat sushi. Well, I like Sushi and so maybe at least something good would come out of this way too long and disastrous date. Why not. We found this place which isnt the best location in terms of trying to find it. It is a nice place though. The decor was pretty good. The service was absolutely terrible! The only thing that kept me there during the terrible service was that the table I was sitting at evidently was better company and had a LOT more intelligence than my obviously hot but totally numb from the shoulders up date. Really she was that bad...I learned a lesson about dates-sure they may be totally over the top hott but if they have to keep reminding themselves of the basics in life-such as breath in, breath out-it isnt worth it. God Fayetteville! where are the good ones!?!?! Anyway, back to the Sushi place...The service was aweful and the food was less than mediocre. The Tempura was poorly prepared. The Sushi wasn't that fresh. They staff forgot the appetizers we ordered and after remindning them at the end of the meal, decided to bring them despite us telling them that it was too late for appetizers. So...we got charged for them anway. It wasnt really crowded and the staff almost outnumbered the customers so I don't really understand how hard it could be to do it the right way. Oh Well...did I tell you how bad the date was?

This is, in my opinion, the best sushi place in town. Their food is absolutely delcious and they have a pretty wide range of sushi rolls, as well as sashimi and traditional Japanese dishes, to choose from. The wait staff is also excellent and you'll never have to wait on a server.
